Rules to follow:
- Mount tyres with the same exterior diameter (or slightly smaller)
- The speedometer must not read below the actual speed. When travelling at 25 to 75 mph, the speedometer can read up to 10% more than the actual speed
- Mount tyres with a load index equal to or greater than that of the original tyres
- Mount tyres with a speed index equal to or greater than that of the original tyres (except for snow tyres. More information)
- Check to see that rim width and diameter are suitable for the tyre
- When using different front and rear tyre dimensions on SUVs and vehicles equiped with anti-lock and anti-slip systems (ABS, ASR), the distance travelled over one turn must be taken into account.
- Make sure that any dimension changes you plan to make do not pose mechanical problems (required space, extending beyond the vehicle body...)
- Check with the manufacturer, the garage, and your insurance company that the dimensions of the mounted tyres are approved for the use of your vehicle
